PIME priest: Rosaries 'for all continents ' and a new parish for Bangladesh

by p. Michele Brambilla
In a letter Fr. Michele Brambilla speaks of the new initiatives launched this October. A parish will be erected in Kodbir , a small sub-center. Throughout the month, young Catholics will recite the rosary each week dedicated to a different continent.

Kodbir (AsiaNews) - In October, the "missionary month par excellence" , the Church of Bangladesh testifies to its vibrancy and vitality with major new initiatives . Fr. Michele Brambilla , a missionary of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME ) in Kodbir , a little south of the center of the country speaks about them with AsiaNews . A new parish, " the starting point because we are called to be more united in working together for the Kingdom of God " and the recitation of the rosary , that young people dedicate every week to a different continent , "praying for them and asking for the gift of peace of heart. " Below is the letter sent by Fr. Brambilla .

Dear friends ,

greetings from Bangladesh. I am writing at a time when we do not usually write letters from the missions , but three reasons lead me to do so.

The first is to announce that on November 16, 2013 in the center of Kodbir a parish under the name of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle will be erected. It will be a moment of great joy for our community and which you are all invited to take part in. The erection of a parish marks a point of arrival and departure for our young Christian community.             A point of arrival because it demonstrates its independence from the mother parish of Dhanjuri , independence does not mean separation, but maturity, being ready to walk on its own two feet as we were reminded by our Bishop last month in a meeting with all the catechists and village leaders . A point of departure because we are called to be ever more united in working together for the Kingdom of God and the common good.

I can not conceal my joy at the moment and I hope that all of you from afar participate in this event through remembrance and prayer.

The second reason is connected to the first. During my stay here in the south center, with the help of catechists, nuns and volunteers activities in the religious, social and health care sphere have increased. However we have realized that we need a hall for meetings and rooms for overnight stays with toilet facilities are needed. So with the contribution received from the PIME Foundation and friends we started the construction of the first wing of the vocational training center.

Finally, for the month of October, the missionary month par excellence, we have committed ourselves as a missionary community to a weekly recitation of the rosary. Young people from Kodbir have drawn posters of the five continents. Every week we pray for the people of a continent hanging the drawing before the altar and ask for the gift of peace of  heart, from which true peace comes .

To all my heartfelt embrace.
