Hundreds of thousands of Koreans parade and cheer the new president of the Workers' Party. "Absolute trust" of army and people in dictator, who has defined his country as a "responsible nuclear state".

Pyongyang (AsiaNews / Agencies) - A veritable "procession" with hundreds of thousands of participants today concluded the Workers Party Congress that crowned Kim Jong-un as the "great leader".

Kim presided over the event from a balcony above the gigantic Kim Il-Sung square, filled with an ocean of people waving pink paper flowers, balloons and Party flags.

Kim Yong-nam, (nominal) president of the country praised Kim Jong-un who was elected president of the Workers' Party a day ago. "The election – he said - shows the absolute confidence of the army and the people inthe great leader Kim Jong-un." The square responded in unison shouting the slogan "Mansei! (Hooray!) ".

The Congress rally, held for the first time in 36 years, ended yesterday. During the sessions, the dictator managed to position close allies while ousting those loyal to his late father, Kim Jong-Il. He even went as far as to propose himself as the direct heir of his grandfather Kim Il-Sung and warned the international community that North Korea will not stop its nuclear program, though - he said- "will not use nuclear weapons, unless our national sovereignty is threatened ", North Korea being a" responsible nuclear state".
